Privacy Policy for Koi-Koi Hanafuda

Effective date: 29 September 2026

Short version: the app keeps your settings on your phone. If you allow diagnostics, the app sends error reports, performance measurements, technical logs, and usage counts to Sentry. Error reports carry a random ID. If you use the Ranked game or its leaderboard, the app connects to Game Center or Google Play Games and sends your points to the leaderboard.

1. Who is responsible

The controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

We are the controller for the optional diagnostics in section 4 and for sending your points to the leaderboard in section 5. Everything else happens on your phone and in your phone's own backup.

2. Data on your phone

The app stores your settings, such as the rules you chose, sound and music switches, and the chosen theme, a list of the themes you bought, your points and rank of the current week in Ranked games, your diagnostics choice, and, once you have allowed diagnostics, data for the diagnostics, such as the Diagnostics ID, the week the usage counts were last sent, and the times of your latest game starts.

This data is kept in the app's own storage until you uninstall the app.

Apple and Google may show us aggregated download, sales, and crash statistics under their own terms and your phone's privacy settings.

3. Your phone's backup

If phone backup is turned on, your phone may back up the app's data. The backup is a service between you and your backup provider: it is stored under your own account, and their terms and privacy policies apply.

4. Diagnostics

To find and fix problems, and to understand how the app is used, the app can send us diagnostic data: reports about crashes and errors, performance measurements (for example how long a screen takes to load), technical log lines written by the app, and usage counts. The app asks you whether you allow this. It sends the data only after you say yes, and you can change your answer at any time under Settings > Diagnostics.

What it contains: technical details of the error, measurement, or log line, the app version, the time, the language, and general technical information about the phone, such as model, operating system version, screen size, memory, and battery level. Your IP address is used to deliver the data.

Usage counts: the app counts events such as that the app is in use, that a game was started, finished or left, and that a purchase failed. The counts come with the settings in use, such as the opponent level, the number of rounds, the rules, the theme and the sound switches, with the result of a finished game, and with measurements such as how long the opponent took to choose a move and the shortest time in which several games were started. The counts also come with technical details, such as the app version and the operating system name. We use the counts to see how the app is used and what is worth improving.

Diagnostics ID: error and crash reports carry a random ID that the app creates when you first allow diagnostics. You can see it under Settings > Diagnostics. It lets us find the reports from one installation, for example when you contact us about a problem, and delete them on request. Logs and performance measurements from the same session can be matched to an error report while that report exists. The usage counts can never be matched.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and chapter 9 section 28 of the Swedish Electronic Communications Act for reading technical information from your phone). If you withdraw it by turning off diagnostics, the app stops sending.

Who receives it: Sentry, a service of Functional Software, Inc., 45 Fremont Street, 8th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA, which acts as our processor under a data processing agreement. We use Sentry's European Union data region, so the data is stored in the EU. Sentry staff outside the EU may access the service for support and operations. This is covered by the safeguards in our data processing agreement with Sentry (the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and EU standard contractual clauses). You can ask us for a copy.

How long: Sentry deletes diagnostic data automatically: error and crash reports after at most 90 days, logs, performance measurements, and usage counts after at most 30 days. A small sample of performance measurements is kept for up to 13 months to show long-term trends.

5. Leaderboard

If you use the Ranked game or its leaderboard, the app connects to the game service of your phone, Apple's Game Center or Google Play Games, with the game account you are signed in to on your phone, and sends the points you win and the theme you use to the service. The leaderboard shows them with details from that account, such as your nickname, where other players can see them. The app reads the leaderboard from the service to show it, to show your rank, and to add new points.

Apple and Google provide these services under their own terms and privacy policies. You manage your game account and its privacy settings in your phone's settings.

Legal basis: providing the Ranked game and the leaderboard that you chose to use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

How long: the leaderboard starts over every week. Apple and Google decide how long they keep earlier points.

6. In-app purchases

The optional one-time purchases in the app (themes and a tip) are processed by the app store you got the app from, Apple's App Store or Google Play, under your agreement with Apple or Google and their privacy policies. The app asks the store which themes your store account owns and saves the answer on your phone. The store shows us aggregated sales totals.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, and receive a copy of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time.

• Data on your phone: you exercise these rights yourself. Change any setting in the app, or uninstall the app.
• Diagnostics: turn them off under Settings > Diagnostics. To get a copy of your error reports or to have them deleted, email us the Diagnostics ID shown there. Without the ID we cannot find your reports. Logs and measurements expire as described in section 4.
• Leaderboard: your points disappear when the leaderboard starts over each week. Your game account is handled by Apple or Google.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the new version replaces this one in the app.
